There are very few ways for our bodies to access vitamin D without the sun, and even though some foods, like mushrooms, do provide a bit of vitamin D, getting outside and soaking up the sun is the most impactful way we can get our daily dose of the vitamin.

In a perfect world, you should be getting outside for 20 minutes in the morning, 20 minutes around mid-day, and 20 minutes at night before bed.

Studies have shown that doing so helps the body produce melatonin and other body-regulating hormones at the correct times to help you get a restful night’s sleep and recover from your day.
