Do These 4 Things Everyday to Stay on Track

It’s natural to get caught up in the stress of daily life. Work, family, and home responsibilities can creep in and take up all of your time, making it feel like there is room for little else.

It’s easy to get bogged down and lose track.

At times like this, it’s best to get back to basics, keep it simple, and get re-centered. Instead of starting from scratch, try setting yourself four tasks.

If you accomplish them, you’ll know you are moving closer to your goals each day.

Something Productive:

Do something productive each day. It can be going to work, washing some dishes, or filling the car up with gas. Something productive is meant to be an easy win that makes the rest of your day simple. It’s important to not focus too heavily on doing something productive, however; no need to spend all your time trying to get everything on the to-do list done.

Anything you do past the first productive task is an extra win. Remember, we’re trying to beat overwhelm, not clear the to-do list.

Something Active:

Being active helps give us more energy, clear our heads, and is vital to our health. Start out simple with a walk, a couple push- or sit-ups, or dancing around to your favorite song.

As you build the habit, escalate to a full workout.

If you need someone to keep you accountable, consider getting a coach to help you stay motivated.

Something Nourishing:

Our diet is the first and most impactful way for us to control our health. It also tends to be the most overwhelming because eating is something we HAVE to do every single day, regardless of whether we have healthy foods on hand.

This is why, again, we want to start simply. Just make sure that ONE meal is healthy or nourishing.

Start with a premade breakfast, be it a protein shake or yogurt, oatmeal or an omelet. Make sure it has healthy protein, fats, and complex carbs to start your day off with a balanced meal.

Once you get into a rhythm with it you can add more.

Just like with “Something Productive,” if you have the time and energy to make your other meals support your health goals as well - do it! But the win comes from making sure you get at least one thing that is nourishing - everything else is pure bonus.

Something Fun:

This is probably the most neglected part of an adult’s life. We get caught up in our responsibilities, our family, and the stresses in our daily life. It’s easy to turn on the TV, turn off our brains, and forget to have some actual fun!

Pick up an old hobby, play a game, read a book, whatever it is that you truly enjoy. If you are going to the TV to have a good time, be it video games or a movie or show, make it a mindful activity. The key here is to spend your time consciously enjoying yourself, not just filling the space until you go to sleep.

Now, this method might seem simple, but it’s highly effective! The reason this works is because it gets us to slow down, be more aware of how much time we have in the day, and learn to better prioritize a balance between what we have to do and taking care of ourselves.
